Carrina's Backstory ...

My journey in the beauty industry began in 1996, sparked by the encouragement of a former employer who recognized my potential and urged me to pursue a career in hair. Upon applying for a hairdressing course at my local college, it was suggested that I broaden my studies to include beauty therapy. A year later, I chose to dedicate myself exclusively to beauty, a decision that has shaped the course of my career and one I have never regretted.
I qualified from Hastings College of Arts and Tech in 1999 and embarked on my professional journey.
After qualifying I set my sights beyond the UK and embarked on an extraordinary journey with Steiner Transocean, embracing the challenge and adventure of working at sea. Over the course of two years, I completed three contracts aboard Carnival Cruise Liners—a life changing experience set to profoundly influence the direction of both my professional and personal life.
My time with Steiner began with an incredible opportunity: I was selected as part of a team sent to Trieste, Italy, to assist in the setup of a luxury spa aboard a ship still under construction. Watching crates of state-of-the-art equipment and premium products being crane-lifted through the open decks into the emerging spa was a sight to behold.
It was here that my passion for business startups was ignited—witnessing the meticulous planning, precision, and ambition required to bring a high-end beauty and wellness space to life. This experience deepened my understanding of service excellence, operational efficiency, and the entrepreneurial mindset needed to build something remarkable from the ground up.
As the ship embarked on its maiden voyage across the Atlantic to New York, I absorbed invaluable lessons in service excellence. I had already mastered the art of performing treatments, but this experience elevated my understanding of delivering a world-class client experience—ensuring impeccable standards from the initial consultation to the final farewell. For the next two years, I traveled across North America, Canada, and the Caribbean, working alongside extraordinary professionals from around the world, many of whom remain dear friends to this day.
In 2002, I returned to the UK in search of my next challenge. While exploring opportunities in business and education, I secured a position at a prestigious golf and country club spa, early 2003, as a beauty therapist. By the end of that year, I was promoted to Spa Manager, overseeing an exceptionally busy clientele, maintaining full occupancy, and ensuring seamless operations. Alongside my managerial duties, I continued to cater to my own loyal clients, supported by a remarkable team of dedicated women.
After eight years, in 2010 I launched a business I had spent two years developing along side my position at Nizels. Offering private beauty treatments in clients’ homes and Bridal makeup artistry. This path provided the flexibility I needed while raising my children and allowed me to form personal connections with my clients. Over the next seven years, I had the privilege of working with countless bridal parties and nurturing a loyal clientele who valued the exclusivity and convenience of private beauty services. However, as fulfilling as this chapter was, the demands of mobile beauty therapy eventually took their toll.
In 2018, following a year of meticulous planning, I launched Stella Carina Beauty in Bromley, assembling a team of talented therapists and practitioners. Together, we provided an extensive range of treatments, from beauty essentials, holistic therapies to advanced skincare procedures such as skin needling, peels, and injectables. Tragically, just two years later, the pandemic forced Stella Carina Beauty to close its doors.
After taking a career break, I began the process of resurrecting Stella Carina in 2022, refining my focus to specialize in electrolysis permanent hair removal — a treatment that had remained one of the most requested throughout my career. With renewed determination, I set out to find a new location, eager to lay the foundations for this next chapter.

What followed was a series of opportunities that seemed to arrive with perfect timing. The search for the right space soon turned into an exciting adventure, and before long, the ideal setting revealed itself. From planning and construction to making thoughtful design choices, every step brought a sense of progress and anticipation. The experience was a reminder of how change, when embraced, can lead to meaningful growth.

Beyond my hands-on services, I’ve embraced my passion for mentorship as a beauty business coach. Guiding both aspiring entrepreneurs and experienced practitioners through the challenges of business ownership is both a privilege and a calling. My goal is to be the mentor I once wished for — offering practical insights to those entering the industry and helping them develop the confidence and mindset needed for long-term success.

While I specialize in supporting startups, I’m equally passionate about helping established businesses grow. Often, a fresh perspective can reveal powerful opportunities for improvement. Small, thoughtful adjustments can be far more effective than relying on discounts to attract customers. I believe in the importance of fine-tuning the details — enhancing customer experiences, increasing retention, and tailoring solutions to meet each business’s unique needs.

Coaching can take many forms — from brainstorming ideas and building a brand identity to treatment costing, profit margins, and fostering accountability. Because the role of a business owner can often feel isolating, I also provide a space for honest conversations. Sometimes, having someone who has walked the same path and truly understands the pressures of the industry can be invaluable.

My aim is to help with all of the above — and everything in between. Whether working with solo practitioners, salon owners, or those taking their first steps into the beauty industry, I’m dedicated to empowering others to build thriving, sustainable businesses. Through personalized mentorship and actionable advice, I help my clients turn their vision into lasting success.
Looking ahead, I am realizing a long-held ambition to step into the world of education. In 2026, I will launch Stella Skin School — a reflection of nearly three decades of experience, built on a foundation of uncompromising service excellence. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of working alongside some of the most esteemed premium brands, each contributing to my depth of knowledge and expertise. The courses I offer will be a direct extension of this, designed to equip students with the skills, confidence, and business acumen required to excel in the beauty industry.

At Stella Skin School, I will focus exclusively on teaching treatments that offer the highest profit margins and deliver exceptional results for your future clients. In a time when beauty courses are abundant and accessible, true expertise and exceptional customer care remain rare. Performing a treatment is one thing — mastering it to the highest standard is another. That’s where I come in.

Drawing from my extensive experience across various facets of the industry, my mission is to pass on the level of professionalism I was once taught. My goal is to empower a new generation of beauty professionals to stand out from the crowd, not only through their technical skill but through the exceptional service and client experience they provide.
