Preparing for Your Initial Consultation – Permanent Hair Removal

Your first electrolysis appointment will include a thorough consultation and, where appropriate, up to 10 minutes of treatment. This initial session allows Carrina to assess how your skin responds, ensure your comfort, and begin tailoring a personalised treatment plan for long-term success.

To prepare for your consultation:

  • Avoid waxing, tweezing, threading, or epilating the area as soon as your appointment is booked. These methods remove the hair from the root, making electrolysis ineffective.

  • Shaving or trimming is acceptable in the meantime, as long as there is visible hair at the time of your appointment.

  • Ideally, allow 1–3 days of hair growth before your visit, so the hairs are long enough to be isolated and treated with tweezers. However, 24–48 hours of growth is also acceptable if longer regrowth is difficult to manage.

  • If you are unsure how best to manage your hair in the lead-up to your appointment, Carrina encourages you to get in touch for guidance.

Please also ensure:

  • You arrive without makeup or skincare products on the area to be treated.

  • You are of normal body temperature—avoid sunbathing, exercise, or swimming directly beforehand.

  • If using skincare products that contain Retinol or Retin-A, discontinue use at least 48 hours before your appointment to avoid increased sensitivity.

During your consultation, Carrina will explain how electrolysis works, manage expectations, and recommend the most suitable treatment schedule for your skin and hair type. Most questions can be answered throughout the information on this website, but Carrina will be happy to address any specific concerns in person.

Before attending, please check the Contra-Indications list to ensure your treatment can proceed without delay.

Initial Consultation for Advanced Electrolysis – Blemish Removal

Your first appointment will consist of a thorough consultation and assessment. While treatment may be possible on the same day, this will depend on your general health, skin condition, and the type and extent of blemishes being addressed.

To ensure the most accurate evaluation and to prepare your skin for potential treatment, please follow these guidelines:

  • Arrive without makeup on the area being treated.

  • Maintain a normal body temperature—please avoid exercise, sun exposure, hot showers, or swimming immediately before your appointment.

  • If you use skincare products containing Retinol or Retin-A, discontinue use at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to avoid increased sensitivity.

During your consultation, Carrina will explain the treatment process, discuss suitability, and create a personalised plan tailored to your skin’s needs.

Please check the Contra-Indications list to be sure your appointment can commence smoothly.
